Who we are

Save That Munch is a surplus-food marketplace that helps you discover and buy discounted food bags from local vendors for in-person pickup. This policy explains what personal data we collect through our mobile app, why we collect it, and the choices you have. It applies to the Save That Munch iOS and Android apps and this website.

Data we collect

  • Account details — your name and email address, which you provide when you create an account.
  • Location— with your permission, your device's precise location, used only while you are using the app to show food bags near you and sort them by distance. You can use the app without granting location access.
  • Orders & payments — the bags you reserve, your order history, and pickup status. Card payments are processed by Stripe; we do not store your full card details on our servers.
  • Support messages — any information you send us when you contact us for help.

We do not track you across other companies' apps or websites, and we do not use third-party advertising trackers.

How we use your data

  • To create and manage your account and let you sign in.
  • To show nearby food bags and process the orders you place.
  • To take payment, issue pickup codes, and handle refunds where applicable.
  • To send service messages such as order confirmations and pickup reminders.
  • To provide customer support and keep the service secure and working.

Who we share it with

We share personal data only with service providers that help us run the app:

  • Supabase — our database and authentication provider, which stores your account and order data on our behalf.
  • Stripe — our payment processor, which handles card payments securely.
  • Vendors — when you place an order, the vendor receives the details needed to prepare and hand over your bag (such as your order and pickup code).

We do not sell your personal data. We may disclose data if required by law or to protect our rights and the safety of our users.

Data retention & account deletion

We keep your personal data only for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the service. You can delete your account at any time from within the app (Profile → Delete account), which removes your personal data, except records we are legally required to keep (for example, transaction records for tax and accounting).

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal data, and to object to or restrict certain processing. To exercise these rights, contact us at hello@savethatmunch.com.

Security

We use industry-standard measures, including encryption in transit (HTTPS/TLS), to protect your data. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to protect your information and review our practices regularly.

Children

Save That Munch is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from them.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will revise the “Last updated” date above and, where appropriate, notify you in the app.
